A leap year update

The latest project to go out the door was nine films for the British Thoracic Society. These were delivered last week.
The BTS is a really excellent organisation that exists to improve the treatment of lung disease in all its various forms.
The films used material that we shot over two days at their Wintermeet.
This is a three day conference during which a huge amount of useful information gets exchanged between practitioners throughout the field.
Leading to many positive outcomes eg the raising of standards of care, the development of new treatment techniques.
Each film had a different objective.
For example:
One film introduced respiratory medicine to junior doctors in case they may decide to take up a career in this area.
Another explained what stop-smoking champions are and how people working in hospitals can set up a smoking cessation service.
They are all extremely nice and extremely clever people. It has been a huge pleasure to work with them.

cardboard packaging and pro golf

Does once a year count as a regular update?

Last week I was shooting the Jamega Pro Golf Tour with a Sony XW F800.

The week before that I was shooting an interview for DS Smith Plc with their buyer at the Mondelez International office in Zurich. I edited and delivered the film for a presentation to financial analysts last week. This was shot with my Canon C100.

By the way, I have recently upgraded my editing equipment. I am now editing on a purpose built 17 inch laptop.

I am still using Avid Media Composer but I am also using another non-linear editing package. Edius allows me to import and edit files from the C100 immediately. With Avid it is necessary to spend time converting to an Avid-friendly format.

I can therefore shoot and editing simple films on-site and deliver on data DVD or hard drive, or upload to the web, on the same day. As required by the client.

Marathon De Sables

Last weekend I was shooting a convention for the Marathon De Sables.
Including workshops and a final address from Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who has led an amazing life and was billed as the greatest living explorer.
You may remember that he cut the remains of his frost-bitten fingers off with a pen knife!
If you like the idea of a challenge you can find out more about this gruelling event here:
